The bay was manufactured in 1972 and first registered for road use in the UK in 1973.  I recently reregistered the bus as a historic vehicle. In the UK this is any vehicle manufactured in or before 1972. Due to it status it is road tax exempt, that means I save around £165 a year.

Here is a letter that I received from the DVLC regarding the changes to historic vehicles

I also get very cheap insurance... £118 per year, fully comprehensive cover.

I purchased my bus 1993 and made great use of it for the 1st 4 years of ownership. The bus was mainly use for days by the coast windsurfing.

In 1995 all that changed when my 1st daughter came along, then came the move to a bigger house, then another daughter. The bus went into my garage and sat there for nearly 4 years. In this time it hardly moved, covering less than 1000 miles.

By the middle of 2000 I was back on my feet and made the decision to get my old bus back on the road again. That's when the work started. Have a look at the overhaul page.
